Sole Owner
Contractor and his subcontractor (CJP Building) insisted on $16,250 down payment before beginning work (way in excess of of the usual 10%). I questioned giving this large amount of money BEFORE any work was done. They insisted this was customary which I found on later on the CSLB website is not true. Contractor also tried to get my to pay him an additional $5000 for electrical work. I questioned what electrical work was supposed to have been included as stated in the contract. Was also told project was going to take 2 months to complete and it has now been 9 months. Work has practically been abandoned, with subcontractor showing up maybe one day per week...if at all. I feel I have been misled by this contractor. Poor communication with this contractor. Also cannot get this contractor to commit to a completion date (which also should have been in the contract). There has been no diligence in completing the construction project. Main house water line not replaced with copper.
Remedy sought:
I want to get this project done...on budget with no additional monies requested. I want a project completion date. I want this contractor to show up daily and do work like they did in the beginning of the project. I want the contractor to communicate with homeowner, as previously requested.
