    Stay away from K2 Contractors!! There is a reason they have little activity, and I know now why no more of their projects seemed to go up in Redondo Beach.
    I bought a new construction front unit of a two-on-a-lot, detached townhome project in 1999. I purchased it directly from Kit Kaiser of K2 Contractors. Owners of both homes they built concurrently eventually discovered massive water damage caused by negligent construction in the master shower. The rear unit discovered theirs when a mushroom sprouted out of their shower floor! Mine was discovered when a massive bubble of water formed on the kitchen ceiling downstairs, directly under the master bathroom. In both cases, as the tile shower was opened up, extensive water damage had resulted from long-term leakage, having soaked through the subflooring, joists, and rotted the drywall of the ceiling below. Also, in both cases, our master bathrooms had to be completely torn up, including the rotted, warped shower walls, then the walls/shower rebuilt, all tiling in the bathroom, even that all over the built-in tub because you can't replace half the tile and match it. Total cost $20,000 for each of our houses. The cause, which is documented in multiple photos, the insurance adjuster, and even by the Manager of Redondo Beach's Building Department (Inspectors) was that K2 Constructors used ROOFING SHINGLES INSTEAD OF A SHOWER PAN, with little hot-mopping. The inspector had never seen anything like it, nor had Allstate's adjuster. The City inspectors confirmed that the shower waterproofing was NOT constructed to code, but they are immune from responsibility. The builder refused to take any responsibility and told me that roofing shingles are often used for this purpose. He's a classy guy. Even before this, I've seen the huge difference in the quality of our townhomes and those next door built by Mark LaCharite. No wonder La Charite was one of the most popular builders in Redondo Beach for years.
    Kit Kaiser (K2 Contractors) is a builder who cuts corners on things as important as waterproofing a shower; and the head of the City Building Inspectors himself said he had NEVER seen this done, and theorized that they probably filled the "pan" with water shortly before the inspector arrived, not the two hours required, and there was no way for the inspector to know that it was not built properly or compliant with building code. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CONTRACTOR!!!! Both myself and the other homeowner have photos and documentation to prove every part of this review.
