I needed a structural engineer to calculate shear walls for a 26x26 addition. My architect received a referral from another engineer to use Lucid engineering services. Ghulam Masoon Kamal. The city of Des plains told him exactly what was needed. he did not do what the city recommended. The house only required perspective sheer walls with plywood and special nailing. he went with steel which increased the cost of the project by 20,000. While working on the project he kept telling architect she would have it tomorrow. he did that for 3 weeks. once he did eventually finish it was all wrong. When revisions were needed he bailed on the job and told my architect to find someone else. So, if you are looking for a structural engineer that wont return your calls, or continually lies about when the job will be completed, and the does it wrong. and then bails. this is your guy. I recommend that you work with someone profession and cares about the customers that he has. If you hire him. Then good luck to you. Don't say I didn't warn you. This guy is unprofessional regardless of the excuses he gives.
