Ref: FYI with King’s Fire Construction Corp.
This is FYI only. Let me start off by telling you the circumstances that lead to this review. My Garage caught on fire. Consumers beware of King's Fire Construction Corp. King's Fire Construction Corp are Crooks. I became suspicious of their practice when my Insurance Adjuster called and told me about an estimate the King's Fire Construction Corp submitted. He told me that the estimate to repair my Garage that King's Fire Construction Corp submitted was quoted at $39,000.00. Heck, I replaced my entire Garage from the ground up including the concrete last year (2020) for $33,000.00.
The area that was damaged was in a small area of the Garage. The Insurance Adjuster refused the $39,000.00 estimate and worked out another estimate of $22,000.00 to do the repairs. The repairs started and everything was going fine, until I received the Settlement Notice from the Insurance Adjuster and that's when things started going South. Reviewing the Settlement Notice there were things on the Notice that seemed suspicious, but I didn't address it to them until they said the repairs were completed. While waiting for the repairs to be completed, I started doing research on King's Fire Construction Corp and what I discovered I was shocked, but I wasn't surprised. I started with the BBB and a rating that was given was an (F). I called the License Department and discovered their License had expired as of Feb 2021 from what I was told.
Armed with this information, I waited for the completion of the repairs. President/CEO Grant Cudjoe and Foreman Neil came over to finalize the repairs. At no point did they mention anything about the Settlement Notice. It wasn't until I addressed the Settlement Notice to them, and out of 29 repairs there were 7 repairs or items that were questionable or not done at all, totaling $4,901.58. When I questioned them about it, they had this dumb look on their face as if they didn't know what I was talking about, and that's when I produce the Settlement Notice and went over it repairs by repairs. It was determined by the both of them that I was correct and they agreed to deduct the amount of $4,901.58. from their bill for Items not purchased or/and repairs that were not done.
Also, I mentioned about the (F) rated finding I saw from the BBB. Mr. Cudjoe gave some lame excuse that he will not pay to play with the BBB. (whatever that means) According to the BBB, the reasoning why an (F) rating was given to King's Fire Construction Corp was because 5 complaints that were never answered or addressed by King's Fire Construction Corp. I have been dealing with all types and kinds of Contractors for years, and the one thing all of them have in common, (the ones that I have dealt with,) they all were grimy and deceitful. Lesson learned, when it comes to Contractors do your research, get it in writing and review it and make sure the repairs are done before payment.
Contractors are notorious for once payments are made, they have nothing more to do with you, and don’t rely on word by mouth with them, and remember the old saying, If it’s not in writing, it means nothing in Court and if it sounds too good to be true, then it’s not. Most Contractors will bid or give high estimates to your Insurance Company, but will go the cheapest way to make the repairs. If I had not been on point with King’s Fire Construction Corp, they would have pocket $4,901.58 for items or/and work that was never done. Now, isn’t that grimy and deceitful…..
