Lysco Contracting uses telemarketers to arrange for chimney services. This is a red flag that something is wrong because no legitimate chimney sweep will cold call anyone. Another red flag is that they offer an inspection and cleaning for somewhere between $50 and $65 which is a very low price for such a service. The low price is the come-on to get them to walk in your door. What happens next is well documented online. There are numerous complaints that have been lodged against Lysco Contracting (Also known as Energy Star). throughout New England alleging that they are scammers. They were the subject of an I-Team investigative report that was broadcast on WBZand also one on WCSH in Maine. During the Maine report, a legitimate chimney sweep contacted them to inspect his chimney. Unknown to the Lysco Contracting chimney sweeps, this chimney was inspected before they came and determined to be in fine working order. Yet, the Lysco Contracting chimney sweeps found all kinds of things wrong with it and sought thousands of dollars worth of repair work that was not needed. When the Lysco Contracting chimney sweeps were confronted by the I-Team reporter, they left so fast that they left their ladder and tools. In Maine, they are being sued by the attorney general for soliciting without being licensed. There are also allegations that its president, Adam Joyce, has a less than stellar background and a criminal past which are detailed on the WCSH report from Maine.
