My husband and I have mixed reviews of Brian McKenna and his employee. While we ended up with beautifully refinished hardwood floors in our dining room and foyer it was a painful experience from a service standpoint. Phone calls were not returned. Appointments were made to meet with us in the morning/evening which he was a "no show". It didn't seem to matter that we had to go to work also. When he did show up to check our floors there was dirt in the clear coat near our front door which was unacceptable to us. He said he did notice the dirt and it was because he had to go in and out of the front door? He said he will rebuff the entire floor and clear coat it at no charge but it will really put him behind. Stairway bannisters were sanded and stained only to find rough spots throughout which we had to have redone. One wall bannister was removed due to not being clear coated or sanded properly. The bannister, when turned over, had never been stained at all on the bottom. The kicker for us is when he told us he would like half the money down which was fine but then insisted that we pay him before the job was done so he could pay his men?? While we believe that he is very talented at his craft he is overbooked and does not allow time for customer expectations. You never ask a customer to pay you before the job is complete so you can pay your employees. I would recommend him but I would make sure you do a thorough walk through upon completion. Set very clear expectations in the beginning and do not pay him until you are satisfied.
