Replace Solar Fan on the roof

    Fall 2023,
I sent Todd Day a deposit check for a small project but never heard back from him. I tried e-m, phone, text, mail but no replies. I wonder if he went out of business?

    Exterior an8d interior repairs

Dont bother unless you need to brush up on your babysitting skills and enjoy being lied to and ghosted. 1 star is generous enough.

On 8/8, Todd Day, President of Newday, Inc. provided a quote for home repairs needed to correct damage caused by water settling at the base of our home. This was to include demolition of rotted wood, repair to structure, and reconstruction with new windows and siding on one wall being repaired. Projected start date was to be 8/22 after putting a 50% deposit down. After an initial no-call/no-show on 8/22, we agreed to push the start date to the following week. From this point forward, Todd repeatedly did not show or said he would be done, yet got very little done from day to day. This project was a constant source of stress, poor communications, and unfulfilled promises by Todd Day from the start. By the end, it was an infuriating string of excuses, poor execution, and a complete lack of customer service.

Wednesday 8/22 – After not returning my call or text asking when he would arrive that day, Todd contacted me at 8:37PM the day he stated he would begin the project. He said he was really sorry but they were delayed because of another project. He stated he could possibly send someone out in a few days to do some temporary fix, but requested that they start on Monday 8/27. This was agreed upon and start date pushed until Monday 8/27.

Monday 8/27 – Newday on-site and demolition started. Repairs to sill and rim board were completed. Plywood was installed on exterior and repairs were to continue on 8/28.

Tuesday 8/28 – Sheeting and windows installed.

Wednesday 8/29 – Todd contacted me to state “I made sure we were watertight yesterday. I’ve got to finish up another job today. Promised return date was Thursday 8/30, “worst case Friday” meaning 8/31.

Thursday 8/30 – No show and no communication.

Friday 8/31 – Todd contacted me Friday afternoon saying they had an emergency scenario and promised to be back on Tuesday. At this point, I requested the dumpster that had been in my driveway all week be removed, since his crew advised it would no longer be needed at my home. I let him know my frustration of this being delayed yet another week. Todd stated he would “have the dumpster removed today and they could possibly work on the exterior on Saturday”.

Saturday 9/1 – Dumpster not removed as promised on Friday. Todd did not show up to do any work on the house. After stating I would have it towed from my driveway because it was not going to sit over a holiday weekend, he reluctantly removed it after a text to me “if he would have known there would have been this kind of reaction from running a day late”.

**At this point, eight work days into a three day project, both the exterior and interior of our home was a half completed eyesore.

Tuesday 9/4 – Todd and Doug showed up at 1PM and promised to be done that day. Windows and door install were finished, but siding and trim were still not started. Work to the water heater started in the evening, and carried on into the night with sawing and banging, preventing our 2nd grader from falling asleep for over an hour because they didn’t leave until 9pm, due to not showing up until 1pm.

Wednesday 9/5 – Todd responded at 4:30PM stating they could finish on Saturday. At this point, I stated my frustration with yet another promise of being done, another delay, and a total lack of communication. Todd blamed his delay on the rain (it doesn’t rain inside), lack of staffing of various varieties (my guy was sick, my guy was hurt, we have another job that is a higher priority), and when I stated this was unacceptable he then blamed me for being “difficult” and no called and no showed for nearly the next week.

Monday 9/10 – After no communication, Todd texted me 11:20AM to inform me that “we can get this done tomorrow.” After I express concern with his failure to follow through on a finish date, because Todd had now told me several times we would be done “tomorrow,” he reiterates “I will have this finished tomorrow” and that “nobody wants this job done more than I do.”

Tuesday 9/11 – A few trim pieces installed on the outside but still far from complete.

Wednesday 9/12 – Todd states “I will be back tomorrow to finish”.

Thursday 9/13 – Todd shows up about 2PM and questions if I am even going to pay him for the work. Todd states that work is completed on this day 23 of what was promised to be a 3 day project. We repeatedly ask for summary of work since the original quote included work he did not complete. He agrees to revise it as long as we pay the bill. I pay the remaining 25% of the bill.

Friday 9/21 – I follow-up by email stating my displeasure in how this project was handled. He said I was ridiculous asking where the revised summary is for the work, Todd sends an email stating “he is done”
