This review is overdue and I should have submitted it years ago to warn other home owners. We hired Wayne to fix a previous home addition disaster from another contractor. We found Wayne on Thumbtack. He came and viewed the project and provided us a quote. During our first meeting (late January 2017), we should have seen the red flags. First, we didn't get a quote until early April. He scheduled for his dry wall guy to come look and the guy didn't show up. He complained about prior customers who didn't like his work and/or asked him to come back and repair things (two stories - one about a fireman and another about an old lady).
Unfortunately, we hired him and he started work the 2nd week of April. Looking back at my text messages, there were so many text messages asking if his subcontractors were going to show up. Work was done in April and 1st day of May, I sent a text stating that our hallway was left a complete mess: debris, nails, etc left behind. We had to sweep and vacuum everything before going to bed, AFTER COMING HOME AT 2:00 AM from a trip. More text messages of his drywall subcontractor not showing up when he was scheduled to - causing more delays. We asked if the project would be done by end of June and he responded that it should be.
Wayne's bathroom tiling guy was horrible! Tiles were uneven, damaged and the new bathroom looks terrible. Texts sent in mid September re: bathroom tile stated "The grout on the shower area that you re-did still looks very bad.
Uneven areas. Some thicker and darker than others. We need to resolve this before moving forward." The June finish date came and went and in September, I texted him that the wrong shower head was installed. He also had the wrong granite vanity fabricate and the replacement was horrible (you can see the line of where the granite was cut). The cabinets were not completed and gaps under the bathtub cabinet area.
In October, his subcontractor had cut a copper pipe too short and Wayne blamed it on us and tried to get us to purchase a new faucet set for the whirlpool tub. The straw that finally broke the camels back was his shower glass in-staller. Jim brought a female helper who looked under the influence to help him install the glass door in our shower. They dropped the entire glass wall, nicked the tiles and damaged the $5,000 brand new whirlpool spa. When he left, he STOLE our $200 brand new Moen shower set. I called him and he didn't pick up, but when I texted him that I was going to call the police, he returned with the Moen shower. I immediately called Wayne and told him about this. Second week of October, he "made the decision to abandon the contract." Wayne's response was very aggressive and rude. I have ALL the text messages verifying our horrible experience with Wayne.
Our new bathroom is horrible. Wayne's work is horrible, he's pathetic and has zero skills or care in what he does. We would not hire him to put together a tricycle. BE AWARE AND STAY CLEAR!
