    Garage to ADU convention

    They started my small project of converting a single garage into an ADU in Jan 2024. According to the contract, they are supposed to handover the ADU in April 2024. The designer took the money and disappeared. I filed a case against him but couldn't deliver the summons. I had to spend double the amount to get the design completed and get the permits passed.

    He started the construction before approving the project and I have to give explanation to the city for it.

    Permits finally got approved a few weeks ago. But, my work gets delayed as usual. The contractor Bill doesn't deliver anything as promised. He sends 10 different people for a single work and nothing happens at the end. I am still waiting for him to finish my work. Threats of complaining to the licensing board are not deterring him to correct his ways. I almost came to the breaking point and may go ahead with filing a complaint if he continues to postpone this way.

    It is hard to work with him. Be careful and get everything written when you enter a contract with him. If not, you are doomed.
