It's been 2.5 years (7/5/2021) since the contract and change orders were signed, and the duplex still isn't complete. I've been speaking to other buyers that are in the same situation, some worse off. I'm sure this comment won't help my situation with Rue Homes, but there's not much downside room for it to go from here. I'll update my review if deemed appropiate (improvement in construction progress).
Update: prior to my last comment, I gave Rue Homes a draw payment of $72,000 for drywall, stucco, insulation, tile, paint, and shingles. After several months, he finally got the drywall and stucco completed, but then he said that the money I sent him was already spent and I needed to pay the contractors directly. The $72k I just sent him was gone!!!? The contractors aren't getting paid from the money I gave the builder, and now the contractors are putting liens on owners properties.
Rue ordered the wrong sliders and lied for months that the correct ones were ordered. My roof didn't have shingles for over a year and Rue lied saying the shingles were ordered. Rue said he had my tile in storage (incorrect tile) but he's not willing to release it unless I sign a "hold harmless" agreement and similar contracts.
Rue is under investigation by economic crimes, FBI, and DBPR.
