  If you’re looking for a company that will take your money and run, Sass and Sons Remodeling is the one.

  We signed a contract with them in February 2022 and wrote them a check as our down payment in March 2022 (which they cashed the NEXT DAY) and never did any work.

  Our original start date was to be end of April/first week of May 2022. There were excuses upon excuses regarding a delay in our start date and many plans we made, had to be cancelled.

  I called Cameron Sass on July 5, 2022 and I asked him about a realistic start date and questioned the “unforeseen obstacles” that they stated. Chris Sass was talking loudly in the background, got on the phone and told me that our project will no longer be put on his schedule, to have a great day and hung up on me. I texted Cameron Sass telling him I really didn’t catch what was said in the background. He texted me shortly after saying, “you are no longer on the schedule and we will be processing your refund. We really dont want to go through these conversations again, so we are moving forward getting you a refund. Please allow 3-4 weeks for everything to process. Hope you have a great rest of your day.”

  It has been well over that timeframe and they have not and will not answer any phone calls or emails regarding our refund. Since they breached the contract and took our money with zero work being done, we filed a claim with the Illinois Attorney Generals Office, currently working with a lawyer, and complained to the BBB, to get our money back.

  This is by far the worst experience and a complete NIGHTMARE. STAY AWAY from Cameron Sass and Chris Sass at all costs as we are now $4750.00 in the hole from these crooks!

  Remodel kitchen, laundry, bathrooms

  Started a project with them over a year ago in May. They started strong, but with all remodels things come up. Had architect re draw plans for my house to repair home. They showed up on average maybe 2 days a week. Before Christmas, hit us with a major bill. Which we paid in January, they never paid their plumber or electrician. We were contacted by plumbers lawyer. When plumber contacted us to finish the job, we found out that Sass and Sons broke some of the plumbing work done and it had to be repaired. Sass and Sons never told us of this and up charged the plumbing work by 60% on the bill they sent us. Chris started ghosting my calls after the December Bill. Then his son, who by the way has no business being in construction, and I believe under bid the job started to do the same. We got close to being finished with our job in March. When Sass and Sons decided to hire a customer service rep to answer all their calls and sent out another bill above and beyond the contracts and work change orders already in place and refused to come out without such payment. Since then I found out they stopped paying on the bond needed to work in my town 60 days after getting it. They filed a lien on my property and doubled the amount they wanted and tried to charge me for plumbing work already paid for in January. I have talked to several reputatable contractors and they all shake there heads and can't believe what Sass and Sons remodeling did. STAY AWAY!!!! Total Scheister!!!

  Deck Project

  This company took $5,000 of our money as a down payment and never did any work. They now will not answer any of phone calls or emails. I am currently working with the BBB, Illinois Attorney Generals Office and a lawyer to get our money back. Worst experience of my entire life! STAY AWAY from Steve Melecki, Cameron Sass and Chris Sass!

  Totally the biggest scammer and his son too. I got scammed with crappy installation of cabinets. Didn’t finish the job!!!!!! Do not use this company or his sons at American shaker cabinets, inc.
  The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree!!!!

  Did work with his other business American shaker cabinets, inc. Started off good but ended badly. Cabinets were installed and then had to be reinstalled. Actually, need to be uninstalled and reinstalled again-still not right. Cabinets wouldn’t open, large gaps between the doors when they are closed. Still not done, waiting on the rest of my lazy susan. Great on communications the beginning for about a week but as far as the install and followup, not so much. They also don’t clean up after themselves as they feel they are not paid to do clean up. Wish I never paid them in full at the beginning because they would have had to have worked for the balance of payment. At the end of the day the owner of SAS ,which is also an owner of American shaker cabinets inc, said to me “you get what you paid for”. Do not use this company, I do not recommend ever, not even if they installed for free. Cheaper is not better! Cheaper is a waste of time so don’t put yourself in this same position and put myself in.

  Chris Sass is the biggest scam artist in contractors in history. He makes you think he is giving you the best deal only to later add things on. He also hires large crews and never pays them. Charges things on your account and uses them for other jobs. SCAM at its best!
