We hired this company for remodeling and additions for both our last house and current house. Part of their work in our current house included building a screened-in porch. The screened-in porch has a flat roof, providing an upstairs porch with access through French doors from our second floor bedroom.

The screened porch was completed about 20 years ago, but it rotted out after a couple of years. When we asked this company why it was rotting, Karl Wimmer, one of the current owners, said he didn't know but suggested we were getting that side of the house overly wet when we watered the lawn. We didn't water the lawn in that area, as there is very little yard between the house and the neighbor's driveway on that side.

We paid Stuhldreer to rebuild the porch.

The porch has rotted out again. To be honest, it's been rotting for a few years, but we weren't able to do anything about it because, for the past 10+ years, we were living an hour away, with a parent who needed care. We did have two different contractors look at the porch about two years ago. They both inspected the same areas of the porch and upper bedroom floor, and both said the porch was rotting because the flashing was installed wrong. One of the contractors said the company that built the porch should b responsible.

We moved back into our house in January of this year (2022). We called Karl on May 4. Our voicemail message said we had something we needed done. He returned our call that day and said he'd come to the house "on Monday or Tuesday of next week". He didn't come. We called again on May 16. He said he "forgot us". He came to the house on May 17.

We showed him the porch and told him what two other contractors had told us. We told him that it was his partner, Ron Pytleski, who had installed the siding and the flashing. Karl said he'd get back to us "when Ron is on this side of town". He did not contact us.

We called Karl on June 9. He didn't answer the call. We left a message. He didn't reply.

We called Karl on July 12. He didn't answer the call. We left a message. He didn't reply.

This company didn't diagnose the problem when they first had the opportunity. Instead, they allowed us to pay them to rebuild our porch. We don't feel we should have to pay them to rebuild our porch yet again, since the problem was created by their mistake. Unfortunately, it's become clear that Karl and Ron won't take responsibility for this.

The Stuhldreer name used to stand for something better. We regret that we cannot recommend this company.
