AWFUL! STAY AWAY!
Terry Barbieri is nothing more than a con-man. He’ll talk your ear off about all the homes he’s worked on and all the stuff he’s done but he simply does not and can not perform. He’ll try to impress you by telling you things you didn’t know about construction but in reality it’s common knowledge amongst people in the profession. He spews a lot of b.s. sprinkled with bits of truth.
I hired him to do a full remodel of a kitchen and two baths. He had three months to complete it and at the end he couldn’t even get one bath up and running. But, don’t worry, he will take your money and lots of it. He’ll send you multiple change orders and nit pick every word in the contract. He will bait and switch on the contract, lowball to get your business and then when you want something done, he’ll tell you it costs more because that EXACT thing wasn’t written in the contract. If you don’t want to pay, he’ll just do things the cheap way and that’s the way he prefers. On multiple occasions, he’s reused items to cut costs. My new contractors also found so many other things he’s done wrong. I’ve had to file a complaint with the CSLB and a claim against his bond. I didn’t even know what these things were until this terrible ordeal with Terry. Take note of his License number because you’ll need it. His name isn’t even anywhere on the License or bond information. Everything about him is fishy.
I really rather not get into all the details and specifics because I’ve already had to prepare a 140 page bond claim. But if you want to know, definitely send me a message and I’ll gladly tell you the whole story.
Finally, I’d just like to add that he’s a handyman at best. He sends the same two guys to do all the work (one gentleman always wears a baseball cap and another shorter pudgier man). Demo, plumbing, drywall, etc. He rarely contracts work out. He’s sloppy, disorganized and needs to be babysitted. He rarely follows-up with you and you always have to reach out to him. (My new contractor called me TWICE a day, I felt so spoiled.) If you have to do so much work and manage the whole project, then why bother having a general contractor in the first place? If you’ve read this review, please think long and hard and definitely consider other options. I chose him based on a recommendation by someone and assumed he’d do well by me. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
