  We contacted True Built Homes to replace our roof as well as to extend the roof line over an expanded patio addition. The team did a great job. They showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up, and completed the projects as decided.

  There are just too many things to list. True Built Home will tell you everything that you want to hear until you sign the contract. Then the denial and deflection for problems that are sure to arise. Every single step of the way with True Built Home was a complete and utter nightmare. I had even talked to the owner Lewis Mann about cancelling my home after 8 weeks of no word and no prints to start project after we signed the contract. I told Lewis I would like to cancel because there were already too many "red flags" that I was now seeing with how they do business. I told him that I was concerned about a price adjustment because they were taking too long on our prints. He gave me his word that he would not raise the price and please stick with him and gave me a sob story about being shorthanded in his engineering department. So after 4-1/2 months we finally received our prints and took them to the county for permits. Lewis Mann called me a week before my prints were done at county to tell me he had to adjust my price +$7,000. That was only the beginning of the nightmare that still continues even after being moved in for two years now.
  Mistakes are made in construction which I do know from experience being in the construction trade. When mistakes are made by True Built or the sub-contractors that they hire they do not get fixed. I was told that they do not want to have their subs fix items because they would refuse to do further work for True Built. So therefore you are stuck with sub-par craftsmanship and material for your home. Many item if fixed myself when they refused to. Was also told many times that "we don't use them anymore" when asked about other subs. Come to find out after dealing with some subs after construction for warranty work that all the subs that worked on our house no longer will do any work for True Built Home as it seems all subs had problems with them also. The Subs I dealt with were great to deal with and were happy to fix things and go over concerns with us. I have nothing bad to say about the subs other than the siding. They installed siding not as per install instructions from manufacturer but the way "we've always installed it". Other reviews are correct. Siding used thousands of finish nails on siding and had to pay the painter and extra $1,000 just to fill the holes. Of the three painters I received a quote from all three said they had never seen that done to siding. True Built Home had no pre-construction electrical schematics for your home. Therefore you do not have a clue where lights, Switches, or plug may be located. You can add items at pre-con for @ $100 each but do not truly know what electrical there will be until doing a walkthrough with electrician after the house is framed. During walk through I did want to add a few items and the price was now $500 ea. Honestly when the project manager said that during our electrical walk-thru even the electrician made a huge sigh as he even knew this was way out of line. No electrical had been run yet and True Built wants to rip you off cuz they say its an add-on. How could it be an add-on when you have nothing to show what the standard wiring is? Needless to say we do not add the four more outlets at rough in as it would cost and additional $2000. I did talk to electrician after the fact and he strongly disagreed with the price that the project manager gave us and would have done it for far cheaper. The electrical company is also another sub that refuses to do further work for True Built. I had asked for plumbing upgrades at pre-con and was assured that the standard would be more than enough. Wrong. At each time we had no problem paying for upgrades but were told we would not need them or they totally tried to rip us off on the price we were given. Example, electrician said he would have definitely installed extra outlet @&100 each. And I'm sure that if we would have paid True Built $500 each for outlets that the electrician would still have only received his $100 for work done and True Built would pocket the extra $400 each for having done nothing. They will not let you deal at all with the subs prior to home completion. Zero! True Built sold us flooring which later we were told they no longer have. We were fined by True Built for using our own floor contractors. Oh and by the way, after checking with three different flooring contractors none of them offered at all any of the Mohawk LVT flooring as it was not a good product. All three did offer and stand behind the Mohawk brand carpeting. Mold up in the attic after the first few months. True Built said not there problem even though attic venting was not done correctly as per print. There were so, so many items that as a customer would not seem like a big deal to fix or upgrade and we were willing to pay to have done correctly or upgrade. But to blatantly want to rip us off is unacceptable. This company should not be allowed to operate. Much much more but I'm out of typing space

  Buyer beware (long honest review)

  If you are thinking of building a home with TrueBuilt... let me save you some time by saying DON’T. From the start of this process to the end was just horrible. You are in charge of getting your own permits. We signed up knowing this. But what we didn’t know was that half the information you need isn’t in the final drawings you receive and once you call them for help they will tell you that they don’t do this for people and you need to find the answers EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE MISSING THE PAPERS YOU NEED FOR THE ANSWERS. Which was confirmed by my sales lady later on.

  They won’t go over everything with you. So my advice is to write down every question you can think of before you sign anything. Even if it’s a question about a garbage disposal. (You don’t get one and they don’t tell you that). Oh, if the house you are looking at has stone on the outside on the picture you don’t actually get that... yeah they won’t tell you that either... we also are missing a window above our door that was in the photo and should be there but there reasoning was “our guy likes to go a little crazy in the renderings” lol okay... I call that false advertising.

  You will spend more money on add ons than you would going with a normal contractor. Trust me. A LOT more money will be spent. You get 5 flood lights.. rest are boob lights. We upgraded to all flood lights costing a lot.... you also have to upgrade to the flat light switches. When we did the electrical walk through no one told us that. Which ended up costing more money to get them switched out. Surprise right?

  You have to communicate through an app. If it’s not said in the app....guess what? It was NEVER said then. Your project manager promises to fix something and said it to you in person. Well you are SOL when it comes to fixing it.

  Most of the companies they call out do half ass work. Some do an amazing job and I suggest you get there numbers because in the end you will need them to see if they can fix someone else’s crappy work job. Also half of these people will tell you that TrueBuilt owes them money still... probably because if it wasn’t said in the app it didn’t happen....

  In January our roof was leaking... after the SECOND time the roofers came out to fix it, it was finally fixed but our ceiling and wall had marks. It wasn’t til October till this got fixed..... during this I told them I wanted a mold test done. Brand new house....seems reasonable right? I did the work for them found a certified company would cost them $200. Nope.... they sent there sub contractor with a amazon purchased mold test..... I wasn’t okay with that. I told them that and of course they say screw you we have this amazon mold test it will work. They also told me that this was the homeowners responsibility... EXCUSE ME? This was not my responsibility...this was something that was caused by your crappy sub contractors. In the end we had to pay for the certified company to come out.

  Within the year process of this they had 4 different project managers and two different sales managers.... don’t know about you but I don’t think that’s an issue with the people, it’s an issue with the company. They currently have sub contracted a project manager who may I had is rude. When I first met him he told me he didn’t think I was the owner, that he was going to ask me if my mom was home... okay fine funny... I’m a younger owner...but when he was leaving he then told me “he wished he found a man with money” Excuse me? This is my house as well. There were many other moments like this as well.

  We got told that the drywall company comes out before your 1 year of living there is over. We were happy about that. It’s just like our old house warranty. Our 1 year is almost over now. I sent a message on the app asking about it and guess what? That’s not happening.... the drywall company doesn’t come out... like what? I have a wall in our bathroom that has NO texture on it. But because I did not see it until we moved in and didn’t write it on our final walk through punch list it’s not getting fixed... HOW IS OKAY? All new home warranties come with fixing drywall before the 1 year.

  The best part is looking at the reviews.... when you click on the people’s names who do not mention anyone’s names from the offices it shows you that they left more reviews in different states/counties. Clearly ones they live in... showing that 90% of the “good” reviews are fake.... if you were a honest company who does great work you would not have fake reviews. Once you dig through the “good reviews” you will see all the 1 star reviews they have. A lot of people have had the same issues that I have. One poor guy had to take them to court...

  Please don’t go with TrueBuilt. They are horrible. You build because you are ready for a move in ready dream home. Instead you get a shitty experience with things you will be fixing for months. It is not worth it with them.

  Home build

  Home finished 10/18.

  At no time after signing legal contract did we feel we were valued customers! Project Manager is unorganized and unprofessional. Corporate office/ owners couldn't care less if you are satisfied only when are they going to get your $$.

  If you make the mistake and have TBH build your house. Get a copy of the LEGAL CONTRACT and get EVERYTHING in writing.

  I do have to say my home was finished on time and on budget but I was fully prepared to deal with their nonsense. GOOD LUCK but I suggest staying away from TBH.

  Horrible company! I believe every word C G says. I am more than 4 months past the timeline given to me at the start of this build with problem after problem after problem. There has not been a sub contractor complete their job without multiple rework. The owner is extremely disagreeable, as are most of his employees. The few nice employees are pretty pathetic at their jobs. The company seems to foster an attitude of, the customer is never right and make em fight if they want something to any kind of industry standard.
  I've had to point out and then argue every error they make and still involve inspectors to get obviously wrong issues corrected. What a disappointment. My bank is fed up as well. They have done all the extensions allowed for my construction loan with still no completion date in the near future. Don't join the increasing number of dissatisfied customers. Choose another builder.

  there is nothing true about truebuilt except that they are a horrible company to deal with ! the worst builder my father has dealt with in his 52 year career !lets start at the beginning with our salesman andy ryan, a complete idiot! he told me the door frames came primed like the doors instead of the trim color as every other house i have worked on came with he only checks his voicemail twice a week, nearly impossible to get an accurate answer out of him. lets move on to my first project manager who didnt listen to me in the pre construction meeting on how we were doing the back yard he did not make sure the sono tubes for the posts were installed in the foundation phase so he himself did a half ass job installing them 18" above grade so now i have to spend $8000.00 on a deck to cover that crap up when a $2000,00 paver job was what i had planned on, on top of that the post wraps are horrible they have been done twice and they are still the same crap they were the first time. the siders are horrible they spotted every nail on my project with window sealant that clearly states on the tube that it is not for spotting screws, i told my second project manager david culp , who by the way is also a complete idiot, and he let them do it again when they re wrapped theposts. it cost me $900.00 to have all that smugged sealant removed by my painter before he painted the exterior so now i am up to almost $10,000 is costs to fix truebuilts zero quality control and piss poor project management. oh and did i mention that david culp is a liar, he tried to screw us out of our $4000.00 carpet upgrade by lying to us and telling us it was not longer available a complete lie i verified with the carpet manufacturer and rep, it wasn't until we threatened to sue them that they got the carpet we paid for installed, so lets go back to the lies, david culp told us he would fix whatever were not done before we moved in after we moved then we finally did after 14 months we had to paying two mortgages was bankrupting us, then the office told us since we moved in they would not fix anything else, wtf!!!!! yea its in the contract at the very back.there is still so many things wrong i would have to write a book to get every one of them the caulking on the house is bubbled every where there are cracks around the shower and tub, and oh did i mention the did not have any cold water hooked up to my laundry !!!! so yea everyone in the office has lied to me except valerie, this whole shit mess company is run by a self centered egotistical asshole ! his only concern is getting the worst cheapest subs to do the work on your house so he can buy another BMW or add another watch to his vanity collection. LEWIS MANN is a piece of shit and so is everyone else he hires !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
