I was shocked to see that the status on my house with Trusty Builders shows "final." Trusty Builders never finished our house. … The contractor said he fell on hard times, so he kept asking for money to finish the job, said it would all go toward final payment. Then, over a year after the contracted end date,he said he went bankrupt (Nov 3, 2019) and couldn’t finish. I was supposed to get notification to that end, but never heard from him again. Having paid all but about 8000 on a 134,000 contract, I was left to complete a gutted bathroom, finish the rewiring on the house, get the kitchen electricity installed and the kitchen tiling and stovehood installed, pave the space outside the back doors (dirt was backed up to the doors, and rain came in through the doors as well). There was a mountain of dirt right outside the kitchen/living room doors because they didn't remove it after digging for plumbing. They also never caulked or painted the outside of the house - boards on new construction were already warped as they had been left unpainted since the fall of 2018; siding was also left unpainted and uncaulked, and lower part of the house was supposed to be finished with bricks …never done. Eves to the attic were left open for squirrels to nest ... something I didn't realize until too late. A driveway was also included in the contract, but it will be yearsbefore I can afford that. Other, less vital items were also included that I will never be abe to afford at this point. My husband was alive for about 9 months from the time we started working with Trusty Builders, but the start date dragged on until two days after my husband died of cancer. The fact is, Matthew Ols presented himself as a hard on his luck contractor who fell upon difficult times, and I didn’t want to be the one to push him over the edge since he had 2 kids ... even though that is what he has done to me. I just don't want to believe he is the kind of person who would wait out a dying man to con his widow. I have anxiety attacks thinking about Trusty Builders, and am trying to forget them. However, I occasionally look them up, and when I see that he has a good score and has marked my property as "final," I feel I must, for the sake of any other poor soul, warn the public that if anything goes wrong on Trusty Builders' watch, they will find a way to blame the customer and will not take responsibility. If all is smooth sailing, they may do at least a mediocre job. Don't go for the low build or the big promises. If my house is marked "final," it is because I got a new contractor to finish the main parts and get the city to sign off. It was no thanks to Trusty Builders. I would give them a score of 10 out of 100.
