Horrible experience. Job started off well with his workers seeming to know what to do. They did a decent job for about 70% of the project and then things started to go haywire. He bugged and bugged us for payments (disproportionate to the amount of work done), and then never finished the job. Repeated calls, texts to come back and finish are completely ignored. NEVER HIRING HIM AGAIN!!

Horrible. Started my kitchen and never came back to finish. Plus damaged a cabinet and scratched hardwood floor.

A HORRIBLE experience. I hired Vern to redo my base boards and add crown moulding. He did a decent job, except for the fact that there was no caulk used in any corners or where cuts were made (some cuts were made in the MIDDLE of a short wall where it was just pure laziness not to get a new full piece). A few weeks later cracks were everywhere in the paint because it was never caulked when installed.

Worst of all, he convinced my wife and I to redo our staircase railings since he claimed he was only available for the following 2 days and was booked for months after. He wanted half of the money up front which I gave him. First, he didn't start for several days after he promised. Secondly, he sent my wife and I out to several Home Depot's to get the supplies OURSELVES and said he would subtract what we paid in supplies from what we still owed. Mind you, we were buying 100 iron railings, 5 large newel posts, 5 long hand rails, trim, etc. Everything was here when his workers arrived. His workers dismantled our whole staircase and installed the new newels, however, did not place them in correctly (they could move with the touch of only 2 fingers). I wasn't too happy but decided to give them one more try to see if the final product would solve this issue. They came back two days later (over one week after the job was promised to be finished), which left us unable to live at our house during that time with absolutely NO railings on our upper floor. After the second day of work, my wife and I were completely distraught and helpless. Handrails were installed off center on the newel, newels were still extremely unsafe and shaky, several scratches were made in the hand rails while trying to put in the iron rails, and the list goes on. Needless to say, we were in shock that Vern convinced us he could do this job when his workers were clearly not qualified. I was promised they knew what they were doing. I told Vern I didn't want anyone coming back and that I was done. Since we paid for our own parts/supplies, along with a 50% deposit, we had essentially paid for this job in full. Not trying to take money from his workers for their time (regardless of it being sub par), we reasonably asked for only a quarter of my money back from the original quote. He told me sure, not a problem. It has been almost 3 months now, and after several phone calls, texts, and even certified letters, we have not received a reimbursement. Vern walked away from the job after getting paid in FULL and not even completing it! I then had to pay a professional to take it all down, buy new parts that Vern's workers made unusable by damage or wrong measurements, and complete our staircase correctly. Vern is a great salesman but a HORRIBLE businessman and very unprofessional. Also, don't leave your wife, or any female for that matter, alone with him... after many inappropriate sexual comments made towards my wife, I have lost ALL respect for this man.
