I live at 9610 Green Cypress Lane; Ft. Myers, FL.
This morning (11/06/17) at 8:15am, a service technician came out in response to our call that the air handler was leaking water and, consequently, backing up in the line, causing the float switch to trip and turn-off the unit. The technician came in and performed a simple disassembly and cleaned-out the line. Upon doing this, he initiated the on wall thermostat and verified that the unit was properly working and blowing out cold air. When asked the cost, the Technician indicated that he needed to go out to his truck and call the office for the price. After 5 minutes, the Technician returned in to the apartment and stated that the cost would be $75.00. He was provided a check and wrote "paid" on the invoice and provided me with the yellow customer copy. Upon leaving the residence, the Technician went to the backyard and dismantled the housing unit of the ac unit and proceeded to hook gauges up to the unit (all the while I am watching him from the back bedroom unit). After about 15 minutes, the Technician returned to the door to apologize for the incorrect bill. He stated that he didn't call the office earlier (after specifically indicating that he would not know the charge until returning from making the call), but only just made the call and that the cost is actually $145.00. I informed the Technician that I had already given him the check for the amount that he told me that the office had earlier told him was the cost, and that I did not have another check to give to him. I suggested that he have the office to bill us for what he believes to be the balance. Upon agreeing to do so, the Technician again went around back to the ac unit and spent and additional 10 minutes at the unit. Shortly upon him finally leaving, the temperature of the air went from blowing cold to a temperature commensurate with the fan blowing slightly cool air to warm air.
I called the office number (561-7070) and spoke to telephone personnel and gave her a detailed explanation of what had occurred and I was assured that I would receive a call back. Several hours later, I had not received a call back, so, I called again at 4:10p and went through the same spiel again with the assurance that someone would call me back by days end.
It is now 5:36p and I have yet to receive a call back.
Must I put a stop on the check with which I paid in addition to cut and past this review to every known site out there so as to warn others against what appears to be specious practices on the part of Aries Refrigeration?
I believe that this letter represents due diligence (and documentation) on my part to have the issue addressed immediately and resolved to customer satisfaction without additional cost to the customer.
