Had them out to fix a hot water heater. We gave them the code and the tech was there for 15 minutes to diagnose that it needed a new gas valve control which is what the error code said. Two days later came back and took about an hour to put part in. I found the part online in a minute for $200. He charged us $681 total.
When I questioned this over charge the response I got was: "Two techs the first day for an hour to troubleshoot the issue. Then another hour in the office to locate the part and order. Followed by another hour and a half for two techs to install the part. Other option was to replace the entire water heater which would be over $1200. By the way the actual price of part was $261.26.
So if you want to pay for two techs instead of one, have someone charge you to search the internet for an hour for a part (I found it in a minute for less), have them take 2 man hours to diagnose a code than was on the screen then definitely hire him.
