I would highly recommend using Charles. We hired him to remove all the drywall in the house due to an oil smell. He came in and told us that we did not need to do that and he gave us an alternative option that was much cheaper. His solution worked and he kept in contact with us during the whole process. Out of all the contractors we called he was the only one that gave us a solution that was honest.

Charles Maltese is exceptional in his craft. He's been the most trustworthy and honest contractor I've ever dealt with. He fixes things that you would never think of asking about. I have recommended him to several people and will continue to do so. You won't find anyone as reliable and as honest as him. We are skeptics about everything and I am so happy to have found him. He's a local guy who does good honest work. He redid my bathroom, my entire kitchen, and windows throughout my house. He offers ideas and works within your budget. If you have realistic expectations you found your guy.

My experience with Charles has been nothing but exemplary. He has worked for me for several years on a variety of projects and never once has he failed to deliver exactly what he promised on time and properly executed. I can only believe that the folks who left negative reviews for him must at least have been partially at fault, because he is an excellent craftsman, highly honest, and goes the extra mile to make sure you are completely satisfied with the job. Otherwise, I would not keep coming back to him whenever I have contracting needs. His jobs have ranged from complex construction to general maintenance and repairs and he treats each job with the same level of interest and competence. I highly recommend Charles to anyone looking for a general contractor.

I highly recommend Charles. He installed a complete new bathroom tiles, walls, floor and installed a new bathtub, toilet and sink with two new cabinets. I absolutely love it. Now I have him remodeling my bedroom, with crown molding and finishing my hallway with a shadow box. I recommend him for any project. Oh I forgot my new patio deck is fabulous.

My husband and I also hired Mr. Maltese through a friend and it was the biggest mistake we ever made. We hired him to redo a entire home that we had inherited. He seemed to really know his business and was such a charmer. My husband and I thought wow! our home will be beautiful. Then the nightmare began. Required money up front which is normal, but then sloppy work getting done, asking constantly for more money, but not fixing the things that were being told to him. I can go on and on but will stop here. We hired him in August and up to this date we are stuck with a night mare. My floors are wrecked. walls are a mess from very bad spackling , vents are missing, painting not finished . So much more that I can't write it all. My husband and I are taking him to court and may no other person hire this man.

I hired First Atlantic Remodeling Co. to install a new bathroom and an egress window. An egress in my area is recommended to be 3 inches above ground level. This is to avoid flooding and other problems. I hired the owner and operator, Charles Maltese based on a friendship we developed over the course of a couple of years. A big mistake. I am paying for it dearly. He knows the laws in N.Y. state protect him and allows him to place mechanics liens and he must be paid for the entire job regardless of the work he does. If you don't let him finish, he gets paid anyway. If you let him finish, well I will submit photos of what you can expect. The only recourse is to bring him to court. Small claims allow up to $5,000, and the civil court requires expensive litigation.
I couldn't be more pleased. Charles and his crew were amazing. I had a bathroom remodel and repair of a long standing leak and all of the rot that comes with it. I am by far not a designer and relied on Charles to help me design the room. His artistic eye is amazing! Also being a single working mom it is often difficult to be at home while the men are working, I didn't hesitate to leave my house and dog while they worked. In fact he noticed an issue with my dryer vent ( total fire hazard) while he was here and repaired that also. Honest, trustworthy and masters at their trade I would not hesitate to hire him again! I'm already working with him on another project!
