    Kitchen, bathroom, flooring remodel
    $40,000

My wife & I moved to Florida in Aug. 2021 from northern MN. Our place needed some updates, total new kitchen and spare bathroom, new base boards & flooring throughout. Along with adding a wall in the master bedroom. One of our neighbors had recommended QSP BUILD about a year earlier when we were down. Trust me I have heard about the lack of laborers and slow completions from a lot of people down here. I contacted them and to help speed up the process I took a short video of what we wanted done and within 2 days they called me back, set a day & time to come out and measure a few things and look at the project. We had the estimate the next day and agreed to start this project including the tear down of said rooms about 2 weeks from that day. They started on agreed upon day and their professionalism and attention to detail were more than I expected. I think they used their vacuum more than a screw gun or hammer, everything was cleaned before they left all tools put away or taken with them. They communicated to us on a regular basis and finished the project on time and that was with the owner contracting Covid in the middle of this project. They actually became more than craftsman they became our friends in a different sort of way. I would highly recommend QSP BUILD for all your remodeling needs or new construction, I trust them. One more thing to add, we will be contacting them within the next month or two to remodel our master bath. Scott & Marge Mullen.

    Renovate condo
    $650

I am new to FL and needed a contractor to take down a load bearing wall between the kitchen and living room, update a kitchen, rip up all carpeting and install all laminate flooring and redo three 1980’s bathrooms in a condo. I got QSP Build from my broker, but she warned me that she got them off HomeAdvisor and had not used them, nor knew anyone who used them. Therefore, I would need to do my due diligence.
From out of town, I talked to Sameer and developed a good phone relationship with him, and felt he was very responsible and reliable. He sent me an invoice for investigative work to go with Gustavo, a structural engineer, to see if the load bearing wall could be taken down. I sent back the invoice and check writing “deposit toward future work”. While at the condo, Sameer called and said they cut a hole in the ceiling and the Gustavo determined the wall could be taken down. Sameer says he can get Phase 1 of my job done before Jan 3rd (my drop dead move in date) with getting permits by Nov 1.
Before I gave Sameer any more money I asked for 3 references and Gustavo, the structural engineer’s, contact info. Sameer sent me a photo of a business card for Gulf Coast Engineering. A week went by and I still had not received any references. This was a red flag considering only 3 reviews on HomeAdvisor and not all were for construction projects (one looks like it’s for cleaning). Their website says “reviews coming” every time I check. I checked their contractor’s license which was valid. I also checked their incorporation status which was funky in that they were previously known as Quality Service Professionals and in Jan this year incorporated as QSP Build. Why didn’t they just file a change of name instead of incorporating as a new company? So Quality Service Professionals is not currently in good standing.
Still no references and Sameer said to talk to Rudy about it so I called Rudy. Rudy said he has a privacy policy with all his customers and he would get me the references after he talked to some of them. Another weeks goes by with no references. I asked Sameer what’s going on with the structural plans? He said Gustavo was trying to locate the original building plans. I called Gulf Coast Engineering to talk to Gustavo to point him in the right direction - the management company- but Gulf Coast receptionist said there is no Gustavo working for them.
I called Rudy and told him I really needed the references because of my concerns about Quality Service Professionals not being in good standing with the Secretary of State and Gulf Coast saying Gustavo doesn’t work for them. Rudy explained that they incorporated in Jan as QSP Build so that explained the corporate status but never explained why they gave me Gulf Coast’s info for Gustavo. He said he would get me the references.

Another 4days later, I text Sameer and ask what the status is and he tells me to call Rudy. I call Rudy and he says he doesn’t want to work with me and says it’s unreasonable that I am even asking for even ONE reference. He says I have a $200 credit because they didn’t patch up the ceiling from when they went to the condo with Gustavo. I asked for the full $650 deposit back because I have no structural report I can use to move forward with my project. I have to start all over and no structural engineer is going to take my word for it without going to the condo to look at the joists before doing their own plans. They are going to charge me all over again. Plus I paid that “deposit toward future work” in good faith. When I asked for the full $650 back Rudy said he’s too busy for me and hung up on me. I still have a hole in my ceiling, no Structual engineering report. What business that’s supposedly been around for 30+ years as it says on their website doesn’t have references at the ready? I’ll update if I ever get the $200 check from them for the hole in the ceiling.
